OUR TEAM
Mary studied Theatre at the Philosophy Department of the University of Athens and Music at the National Conservatoire of Greece. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts in Theatre Directing from Birkbeck, University of London. In Athens she worked as an actress, performed as a singer and freelanced as a coach for actors and singers. Between 2013 and 2016, Mary was Associate Director at Theatre by the Lake, where her directing credits include: Elektra, Iron, Jordan, Blackbird, Someone Who’ll Watch Over Me, A Doll’s House, An Inspector Calls, Dancing at Lughnasa, Dracula, Old Times, Peter Pan (co-director), Suddenly Last Summer, Mr Paradise, The Snow Queen and the world première of The Lady Of The Lake. She has also worked as a guest director for some of the UK’s leading acting conservatoires, including LAMDA and Royal Welsh College. After a number of years of living and working in the Lake District, Mary is now based in Lancaster.
Ben trained as an actor at Drama Centre London and has worked extensively in theatres around the UK, including seasons with Shakespeare’s Globe, Manchester Royal Exchange, Theatre by the Lake and Shakespeare at the Tobacco Factory, as well as work in London’s West End. A graduate of the Royal Court Young Writers Programme, his first full-length play, The Lady of the Lake, premiered at Theatre by the Lake in 2015. Shorter works include Necessary Evil (Menagerie/Soho Theatre), Love in the Time of Texting (Theatre503), In Bed With Messalina (Eyestrings Theatre Company) and The House of Gingerbread (Arcola/Edinburgh Fringe). He has a PhD in Theatre from UAL and, alongside his professional theatre work, he teaches Theatre Analysis and Movement Psychology at Drama Centre London. Originally from the Ribble Valley, Ben currently splits his time between work in London and his home in North Yorkshire.
Since graduating from Royal Welsh College in Cardiff, Ben has worked with dance companies in Germany, Greece and Cyprus, working with dancers from across Europe. In England he has worked with leading physical directors. His credits as a movement director include The Lady of the Lake and Elektra (both for Theatre by the Lake). Ben’s acting credits include seasons with the RSC, Theatre by the Lake and the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre in London.
