THEATRE COMPANY
Bakkhik Laik is a brand new theatre company dedicated to epic stories, visceral poetry and dynamic physical performance. Led by our core creative team of director Mary Papadima, writer Benjamin Askew and movement director Ben Ingles, we twist familiar tales into unexpected shapes and unearth lost legends that demand to be retold.
Drawing on myths, folklore and the most exhilarating chapters of European history, we aim to create innovative, challenging and multi-layered theatre. We want to use high-stakes action and gripping drama to explore the furthest reaches of the human imagination and make the profound insights and experiences of ancient storytelling accessible and relevant for diverse contemporary audiences.
Born out of our previous work together at Theatre by the Lake, our creative process involves intense collaboration, with multiple artists contributing to the development of a piece at every stage of the journey.
